Registered Psychotherapist

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), a member of the Ontario Society of Registered Psychotherapists (OSRP), a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a Clinical Supervisor.  My 25+ years of experience has included working with depression, anxiety, grief, addictions, divorce and separation, relationship, trauma, and work issues.  I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), relationship counselling, health coaching, trauma therapies and more.  Alongside of my private practice, I have been fortunate to provide senior leadership to  several mental health programs within large and small organizations. 

I believe most human struggles can be connected to the quest for meaningful intimacy and love. Understanding family dynamics, acquiring healthy friendships, seeking and maintaining romantic love often accompany other emotional concerns.

My life's passion and my greatest success has been to support people through the life events that have challenged their self-worth, feeling deserving and their ability to imagine and create the life they want. 

 My style is direct, compassionate, respectful and where appropriate, humorous.  I believe that providing effective therapy is both an art and science and as such, I use my experience and training to develop the approach and my strong intuitive sense to guide me to a deep understanding of your experiences, your strengths and your unique vulnerabilities.

Virtual therapy, whether by secure video call or phone, offers convenience, safety and unparalleled privacy.  I have been conducting sessions virtually for many years and understand the particular skill sets necessary to provide a connected and engaged experience.  At this time, all of my sessions are delivered virtually.

 

Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery. I will support your behavioral transformation by way of helping you create small successes that build on positive experiences and the consideration of new perspectives. 

My approach is customized to your needs and your desired outcomes.  The number of sessions and the focus of the work will be different for everyone and will be discussed together when we meet.

As a seasoned therapist in private practice and the head clinician for employer - sponsored mental health programs, I  have been supervising individual and large groups of therapists for over 20 years. I meet all of the requirements for providing Clinical Supervisor under the CRPO regulations.  As such, I provide one-on-one clinical supervision for Registered Psychotherapists, Qualifying Registered Psychotherapists and other regulated mental health professionals.

Help Managing through the Pandemic

Covid-19 has created  a surge of mental health concerns, compromising our feelings of safety and security.  While struggling through the pandemic may not always lead to a mental health condition, it may foster  strong and difficult  feelings, such as extreme irritability, fear and despair.  I can help with brief or ongoing support to get you through this challenging time.
